Description:
The school, as a space occupied by almost a third of the life of students, has the duty to contribute to the formation of life habits and personality. Promoting environmental education and healthy eating in schools is associated with meeting nutritional needs, supporting learning and biopsychosocial development.
Process:
The Project “From the garden to the snack” aimed at the implantation of agroecological urban gardens in six public educational institutions in Goiânia, Aparecida de Goiânia and Senador Canedo, during the year 2019, in addition to training and education of ten schools in order to combat students’ food and nutritional insecurity and guarantee a learning space as an extension of the classroom. The project was structured in two axes: the first, “Horta na escola”, was the implementation of the vegetable garden in the educational institution, consisting of six meetings; and the second, “Continuing education”, involved a series of four face-to-face continuing education meetings for those responsible for the gardens of each institution and the monitoring of four more schools for the development of specific topics.
